In the morning, I begin one of the most difficult challenges I've ever taken on. I'll be traveling through Greece for the next eight days, retracing the 240 mil...e trail covered by King Leonidas and the #300Spartan soldiers prior to fighting impossible odds at the Battle of #Thermopylae (480 BC).
I'll be beside a modern day group of warriors, heroes, and close friends including Mitch aguiar Jeff Gguumm Iron Cowboy and others who embody the spirit of battling impossible odds themselves. The larger 'why' of our trip will be to raise funds for the Navy SEAL Foundation which provides immediate and ongoing support and assistance to the Naval Special Warfare community and its families. This comes only a few days following the tragic death of 15-year #veteran and #NavySEAL, Kyle Milliken.
I know there can be a lot of requests for support and donations, especially on social media. I try my best to be highly intentional about only posting causes I truly believe in and this is one of those. I'll be leaving the link to donate in my profile for the duration of the trip.
Earlier today we visited the state of Leonidas in Sparta -- as a longtime student of their history and culture, it was an incredible experience. We'll be embarking on the journey from the steps of the statue in the morning. I'll be drawing upon the strength from it, as well as all of you, for our first 30 or so miles tomorrow.
